Pastor's Weekly Update

Dads and Donuts

Posted by John Repsold on

With Father’s Day right around the corner, I thought you would want to know that we’ll be celebrating dads this Sunday at Mosaic with one of the best ways that speaks love to a man—food! Since a few more people than dads like donuts, we’ll be sure to have enough for everyone to enjoy one…in honor of dads who built into our lives and so many of the people around us. So come with a little appetite for a little something special this Sunday after the service.

Speaking of Sunday, we’re into the seventh week of the God is NOT Dead series. This weekend we’re tackling the problem so many people have with church and Christians—all the bad stuff that has been (and often continues to be) done in the name of Christianity. But we’ll also look at how different the world would be if Jesus had never come and the church had never grown. Like the problem of suffering and evil, this one has some pretty strong emotional holds on people. So feel free to invite a friend who may be struggling with hearing God through all the static of people who call themselves Christians as I speak off the title, “Christianity: Blight or Blessing?”

BRING THOSE BABY BOTTLES

This Sunday signals the end of our baby bottle coin drive for Life Services. So please fill them up with coins, cash and checks, bring them Sunday and do something really good for the young mothers of our city who need to know that there are lots of people who call themselves “Christians” who actually love in word and deed.

FYI—We’d like to ask you to be praying about a new building possibility we have at present. The owner of our current building has put it up for sale so we’re probably looking at some changes either way in the not-to-distant future. We’ve sent a letter of intent through our realtor on the new prospect and are awaiting a response. So as we begin to enter into negotiations on this, we’ll be telling you more about the possibilities for expanded ministries and faith this move will bring. For now, please be praying for God to work with us and the building owners for the best result for Christ's Kingdom. Thanks!

City Gate Serve NEXT week

Just a reminder that we’re now serving at City Gate on the 3rd Saturday of the month, not the 2nd one. So if you would like to be a part of the hands of Jesus in Spokane, just let me know via email ( ) and join the fun Saturday, June 17, at 6:30p.m.

Enjoy the liquid sunshine this weekend. Hope to see you Sunday.
