Pastor's Weekly Update

Superbowl Sunday--A Double-Header?

Posted by John Repsold on

This Sunday is shaping up to be quite the day! It’s not every Sunday that we get to watch our Seahawks play in the Superbowl. Nor is it every day that you get to hear your pastor talk about sanctified sexuality! Sunday’s looking pretty good!

Regardless of who wins the big game later in the day, we all need to figure out how to turn our sexuality and sexual desires into lifelong wins. That’s what the first part of Sunday is all about.

So, yes, we’re still having church (3 times) on Sunday morning and, no, your single or married life experience won’t be better if you stay home in your pajamas to watch the pre-pre-pre-game coverage. God thinks sex is important enough to devote a lot of ink to it in his word. So it’s definitely important enough for us to devote a little interest in His word about it. Enough about sex and the Seahawks.

Here’s a few things coming up this week at Mosaic:

  • Monday: Conduit class at 6:30p.m. in Second Space.

If you’ve really wanted to experience being in community with other believers who are serious about living their lives in a missional manner in this world, The Tangible Kingdom Primergroup is for you. This will be the last night to join this group in the next 10 weeks.

In addition, Pastor Chris is offering Discipleship 201 which will help you really learn what to do in discipling someone in the most important growth elements of the Christian life.

  • Thursday: The Theology Program has started again with Matt Reid at Second Space from 6-8p.m. Come dive into the deep end of the pool as we study the theology of the Bible (Bibliology) and how anyone can properly interpret it (hermeneutics).
  • Friday: C.A.M. (Coffee, Art & Music) First-Friday @ Second Space takes place from 6-9p.m. this next week. We’ll be enjoying some great photography and great jazz, complements of young adult artists and musicians from Whitworth University and SCC. The music runs from 6-8p.m. and the food and drinks keep flowing from 6-9. So invite a friend or two who you’ve wanted to just hang out with to enjoy a free evening of relaxed entertainment as we transform Second Space into a living room-like atmosphere with couches, tables, chairs and YOU. Compliments of our college and young adults.
  • Saturday: Men’s Connection meets at 8:00a.m. We’ll be hearing from one of the men working with UGM Motors.

City Gate Serve happens next Saturday, February 8th, at 6:30 p.m. Please contact me to let me know you want to serve as we need at least 6 people to be able to serve the dozens of people who depend on City Gate for their Saturday evening meal.

See you on Super Sunday!
