Romans 12:11-12

Story:  As some of you know, I grew up in a pretty driven family.  That’s not always a good thing. It tends to lead to perfectionism… which can also lead to never being satisfied with even your best effort.  It can elevate productivity over relationships and make you feel like you’re never good enough.

But being instilled with a sense of achievement, of drive, is not all bad.  Living around other people who are always pressing on to the next level, always trying to get better, be better, achieve more, can develop people who really get something done in life.

My parents both swam on their college swim teams, Dad for Amherst College and Mom for Vassar.  The result was, not surprisingly, I learned to swim!
