Preacher: John Repsold

Series: World Missions 2021

Keywords: stewardship, missions, money management, blessing, sending, investing

Summary:

Missions Recap & Challenge

June 6, 2021

REVIEW:  Past 3 weeks of world-missions focus.

  • Week 1—Eleanor Young (Jesse)—don’t let your supposed limitations hold you back…and don’t hold others back.
  • Week 2—Neil Anderson (John)—doing God’s will, especially in taking the Gospel to others, will involve opposition and, at times, suffering. Don’t be surprised.
  • Week 3—Steve Allen (Jesse)—With Isaiah (6:8), are we willing to say to God, “Here I am,” even before we know what He is going to ask of us?
  • Today: How are we as a church, as individuals, going to respond to God’s call to “Go into all the world and make disciples”?  Here’s my theme for today:  What you and I decide to do will be based on the maturity of our faith, not the amount of our finances.
  • Text QUESTIONS you may have at any time this morning to one of these phone numbers.  We will take time to answer as many of them as we can later this morning.

Steve challenged us with lots of different statements last week.  One of them was, “We have three options when it comes to the “to the ends of the earth” part of the Great Commission:

  • Go
  • Send
  • Disobey

But really, for those of us who have already made the decision to be fervent followers of Jesus Christ, only the first two are active options—go and send.

Over the past 4 Sundays, we’ve heard from 13 of our own family here at Mosaic who are in various stages of preparing to “go.”  I find that pretty impressive given the fact that 13 is about 6-7% of our entire church!  We’re approaching that “tithe” number of 10%.  If we are able to give to this world 10% of our church to spread the Gospel around the world, I’d die a happy man!  And I’ll stack this percentage up against any church in the world.

So, in our experience here at Mosaic, 6-7% of our church has already said, “Here am I.  Send me…NOW!”  They’ve already spent tens of thousands of dollars of their own money (and maybe their parent’s money
