Pastor's Weekly Update

A Month of Celebration

Posted by John Repsold on

With the holiday season just hours away, we’re all probably pulling out our calendars about now and packing them full of special events. As you do, be sure to make room for both the regular spiritual routines of life in Christ as well as some of the special things that will be happening with your Mosaic family from here to Christmas.

December 6th –C.A.M. First Friday @ Second Space: Our collegian and young adults are launching C.A.M.—Coffee, Art & Music, starting in December. They’ll be transforming Second Space into a warm, comfortable coffee shop from 5:30-9:00 on Friday, December 6th. Serving espressos and other hot drinks as well as special pastries, the evening will feature collegiate artists and musicians from Whitworth University. So come on down to First Friday, bring some friends and get ready for what will be probably the best Christmas and contemporary jazz you’ll hear all year.

December 10th & 14th—Christmas Serving in Downtown: The second week of December will be our opportunity to serve some of the downtown’s neediest population at first Cup of Cool Water (Tuesday, Dec. 10th at 6:30) and then City Gate (Saturday, Dec. 14th @ 6:30). If you are looking for a way to give to people who can’t repay in kind (ala Luke 14:12), these are perfect venues. Come join one of these teams and give some of the love of Christ away that we’ve been blessed with so richly.

December 14th—Men’s Connection: Men, come at 8:00a.m. on Saturday, December 14th , for great food, fellowship and insight into life in our city. One of our brothers, Neil, who lives downtown, will be sharing his story.

NOTE: For men who are interested in being on the Mosaic Security Team, there will be a half-hour meeting immediately following Men’s Connection (9:30-10:00) to talk over policy and procedures before we give assignments for this new ministry.

December 21st—Women’s Connection @ 9:00a.m.: Women, come join together for some wonderful food and fellowship around the theme Give-Live-Love as you experience God captivating your hearts for His kingdom. And while you’re there, plan to stick around for…

NEIGHBORHOOD GIFTS & INVITES—Saturday, December 21st: From 11-1 on that Saturday, we’ll be visiting our neighbors near Mosaic, handing out specially printed and wrapped Christmas chocolates with invitations to celebrate Christmas Eve with us at one of our Eve services (3:00, 4:30 & 6:00p.m. Dec. 24th). Why not plan to combine your downtown Christmas shopping with a little connecting with our neighbors that Saturday? Our Christmas Eve outreach is one of those events we know God has used to lead people to Christ (and Mosaic) in the past.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES—December 24th @ 3:00, 4:30 & 6:00 p.m.: Entitled The Glory of It All, this year we’ll be celebrating the sending of our Savior Jesus to this world with three identical but very special services involving amazing music and drama. Start praying about who you want to invite and be sure to pick up some invitations on Sundays to hand out wherever you go. Spiritual sensitivity in people is especially high during this season so let’s join Jesus as he invades this needy world afresh this Christmas season.

And speaking of Christmas 2013, we’ll be entering into a 2-Sunday Christmas series entitled “The Glory of It All” running December 15th and 22nd leading up to Christmas. T

his Christmas, don’t miss out on any of the wonder and majesty of God as we give Him the glory due His name as we close out the final days of the year of our Lord, two-thousand thirteen.

Let’s celebrate!
