Pastor's Weekly Update

Farewell…and Hello

Posted by John Repsold on

Dear Mosaic Family,

Depending on how 2016 was in your book of personal experience, you may be glad it’s now history… or a little sad it’s already “in the books.”  Regardless, we’re all now living a new year, a new month, a new week and a new day…every day God gives us breath.

As we’ll be seeing from James 4:13-17 this Sunday, life is precious, fragile, fleeting, rhythmic and under God’s sovereign hand. We make plans; God directs our steps.  But both the kinds of plans we make and how we make them matters to God and to our success.  Plans can lead to faith or failure, blessings or destruction.  God’s word gives us clear directions on how to plan so we don’t fail to plan OR fail in our plans.   So PLAN to be with God and His people this Sunday…and we’d love to have that be at Mosaic.

Speaking of God’s sovereignty, we’ll be celebrating Jeremy Stanton’s life tomorrow, Saturday, January 7th, with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home at 1306 N Monroe St.  Jeremy lived a truly extraordinary life that blessed all of us who were privileged to know him.  I encourage you to come and bless his wife, Jeanette, and all his family as we celebrate a man, as his father said to me, who “had so little yet he gave so much.”

Finally, a few Mosaic Family matters:

  • We’re planning, working and pushing hard to get into the new Mosaic Center To help facilitate that, we’ll be doing work parties every Saturday & Sunday starting January 14 & 15.  Work parties will be from 1:00-5:00 on Saturdays and from noon-5:00 on Sundays.  We need people to clean, paint, help move, organize, change lights, hang blinds, provide food (Sundays) and a hundred other things.  Please pull out your calendars and pencil in as many work parties this month as you can.  The fellowship, joy, help and sense of accomplishment will be its own reward.
  • The Mosaic Community Bike Shop has a Go-Fund-Me campaign going to help with some expansion projects. Would you consider going to https://www.gofundme.com/mosaiccommunitybikes to make a donation (even $5 helps)? Then “share” and “like” that on your Facebook page.  Your gift can have an energizing and magnifying effect by telling others you value this ministry and the impact it is having every day with hundreds of people in our community.  THANKS for being generous!
  • Women, mark your calendars for a Women’s Tea on Saturday, January 21st. From 11:00-1:00 you’ll be enjoying fellowship together in the Pioneer Pathways Community Room next to our Mosaic Center.  Please see Brenda Stapleton and Tina Neno in the foyer on Sunday for tickets and items you can sign up to bring.

Embracing life in Jesus in this NEW year,

Pastor John
