Pastor's Weekly Update

Judas or Peter?

Posted by John Repsold on

Good Easter Weekend, Mosaic!  As we move into the most important weekend in the Christian church calendar I want to invite you to prepare your hearts for God’s work with you.  Starting tomorrow (Friday) with our Good Friday service (7:00 p.m.) and concluding with Resurrection Sunday morning (8:30 & 10:15 a.m.), we will be looking at the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ through the eyes of two well-known Apostles—Judas Iscariot and Peter.

Tomorrow at the Good Friday service, we will enter into the darkness of that night so long ago by entering into the life of Judas Iscariot.  Judas was a man who began his spiritual journey very much like Peter but, over the course of the next three years, responded very differently to the challenges of being an up-close “follower” of Jesus.  The harsh reality is, there is a bit of Judas in all of us.

Peter, on the other hand, walked those same three years with Jesus.  He heard the same challenging teachings, experienced the same surprising disappointments and faced the same difficult choices.  He failed spectacularly that same Passover night so long ago.  But he went on to become a ‘rock’ in the founding of the greatest movement in human history—Christianity.  The question is, how much of Peter is there in us?

So, prepare your hearts and order your schedule so Christ can come to you this weekend.
