Pastor's Weekly Update

Mid-week Prayer

Posted by John Repsold on

Welcome to this week’s change!

Instead of continuing with our Facebook Live midweek prayer service live-streaming, we are moving back to a Zoom format.

Why, you ask?  For a number of reasons:

  • We miss hearing the prayers of those of you who were previously joining us on-line.
  • We’ve felt that having to use the microphone in the live service at Mosaic has somewhat negatively changed the free-flowing prayer dynamic we have when we’re just praying in a group together.
  • Your pastors need to be refreshed anew this summer, too, and frankly, planning another service in our week has been a little taxing.
  • We still think God wants more of us, His body at Mosaic, to join in prayer together, both at the Mosaic Center and on-line.

The severe crises of our day both nationally and internationally are God’s invitation to all of us to grow our prayer lives.  God is calling, right now, to us, His people.  If we respond, there is a hope and a future for our nation.  But if we, God’s people, continue to do “business as usual,” this social division, violence and hatred that is tearing us apart will only escalate.  It’s really up to us.

Jesus has promised us, His disciples, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you,” (John 15:7).

That is why we are seeking to learn to pray the Word of God together in our mid-week prayer services.  We know when we are in agreement with the Word, we are in agreement with God’s heart.  So, when we use passages of Scripture to direct our prayers as we do on Wednesday nights, there is a much greater likelihood that we will be abiding in Christ, that our hearts will be in tune with Him and that His word will be abiding in us.

So, we invite you to join us TONIGHT.  Don’t feel like you have to say anything if you’re not used to praying publicly in a group.  But conversely, don’t let a little nervousness or even unfamiliarity silence what the Holy Spirit might want us all to pray about through you.  That’s the beauty of shared prayer—we all get to be used of the Spirit to change heaven and earth.

Join us at 7:00 p.m. Wednesdays using the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84945792528

See you in God’s presence,

Pastor John
