Don’t be surprised if you find yourself on film this Sunday. All week we’ve been working with a video production company to put together a couple of short video stories that can be used at our Building Dedication. The last of their filming will be during our Sunday morning service this week at (remember?) 10:30 a.m. (not 10:00 anymore). We’re switching to our NEW SERVICE TIME starting this Sunday!
But back to the filming. During worship service this Sunday, you may notice them wandering around a little bit as they get a few shots of us “experiencing the heart of God in the heart of the city” together. Just keep doing what you normally do as we fellowship, sing, pray, learn and worship. They’ll try to be as unobtrusive as possible but I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to completely ignore their presence.
And now to the “Fridays” part of this email. Due to construction realities and deadlines, we’ve changed the date of our Building Dedication & Dessert so we can be sure to have our basement completed in time. We want Youth for Christ to be fully functional in our basement before inviting our friends and family members to tour the Mosaic Center. So make the change in your calendars and your invitation to others to join us for that great celebration, Friday, May 19th, at 7:00 p.m. We’ll be providing everyone with invitations and sharing more of what will be happening as the date approaches.
Our first real “First Friday” will also happen in May, Friday, May 5th. We’ll be hosting an evening of art, photography and music as a fund-raiser for the Mosaic Center. So if you have art or photography that you would like to donate and/or showcase for this event, please get in touch with Ian Pettus at or the church office.
Concerning Holy Week, remember that we will be doing two Easter Sunday services on April 16th at 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. And in lieu of having a Good Friday service, we’ll be joining Changing Lives on Saturday, April 15th, at 5:00 p.m. So don’t forget to invite friends and relatives to celebrate the greatest weekend in human history with us during at least one of those gatherings. Invitations will be available starting this Sunday at Mosaic.
Finally, since we’ve been very full every Sunday morning since we launched in the Mosaic Center, we’ve decided to go to two services every Sunday starting at Easter. The “Ed-Hour” we’ve been talking about will start the Sunday after Easter (April 23rd) and take place during the 10:30 Sunday service time. That will free up teachers, Sunday School workers and anyone who wants to attend an earlier service to be able to both minister in their classes on Sunday and not miss a weekend worship experience. That 9:00 a.m. service will also be a little shorter than the 10:30 one. So get ready for more options and more opportunities to grow in Christ together!
Set your clocks (and brains) to gather at 10:30 a.m. this Sunday.
Pastor John
