Pastor's Weekly Update

Prayer, Pentecost and Pandemics

Posted by John Repsold on

What a weekend we have coming in our city and at Mosaic specifically!

It starts tomorrow (Friday) at noon with 12-hours of city-wide prayer.  Once again, we are hosting the continuous 12 hours of monthly city-wide intercession in Spokane for revival and awakening.  Our own Cathy Rodgers will launch us off with noon-time prayer for our nation.  That is followed by yours truly leading us prayerfully through the transformational prayers that awakened and revived the church in the book of Acts.  Throughout the remaining 10 hours of prayer, we’ll be guided by at least six local pastors (Jesse Achenbach, Craig Swanby, Cary Peden, John Southwick, Andrew Repsold and Rob Shield) as we change the future of our city and the state of our hearts in prayer…all the way to midnight.  If you love prayer as worship, you won’t want to miss Pastor Jesse’s Pentecost-worship session at 7:00 p.m. or Pastor Andrew & Katie’s worship sometime after 9:30 p.m. Come when you can, stay as long as you can, leave when you must!  God is waiting for us to wait on Him!

Saturday brings a rather unique event to Spokane that involves our own Tim Archer and me at Informed Choice of Washington’s “Path Forward” conference from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Calvary Chapel of Spokane.  (FYI—Tim has the more important part.)  This conference will look at the public health and governmental responses to the latest pandemic and implications of going forward.  It will definitely be a first (and probably last) for both Tim & me as we’ll be sharing the stage with local Zag John Stockton, the keynote speaker.  Go to https://informedchoicewa.org/covidpathforward/ for more information and registration.

Finally, this Sunday marks the third weekend of our 2023 Missions Conference.  Dr. David Biene of Great Northern University will be challenging our hearts, minds and faith when it comes to what we both know about and do with God’s call to Gospel multiplication.  If you haven’t already turned in your “Mosaic Missionary Financial Faith Commitment Card”, please plan to do so in the next two weeks.  As the title says, it’s all about FAITH and only secondarily about our finances.  And it’s all about putting our earthly “treasure” where our hearts are—with God’s work worldwide through our own much-loved missionaries (Ottossons, Brumleys, Bruce Anderson, Elizabeth Jones, Flensburgs, Audria Sears, and a few yet-to-be announced brothers and sisters on the fast-approaching missionary horizon).  This is our calling.  These are our family.  You don’t want to miss out on being part of the most amazing work unfolding in the world today!

Enjoy God’s great family this weekend!
