What Would Be Different?

Posted by John Repsold on

How would your life, mine and the life of Mosaic be different if God took back the Holy Spirit from our souls?  Hopefully it would feel like the worst death of a loved-one we could ever experience.  Hopefully Mosaic would cease to exist…or we would become a people who cried out desperately to God until he restored the Spirit’s presence to us.

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, a day on the church calendar when we recognize and celebrate the reality that God sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in our bodies and the temple of the church.  That’s what has made every gathering of Christ-followers for the past two-thousand years something that is unlike any other gatherings of people in this world.  The Holy Spirit is always there, whether we are able to recognize His presence and work or not.

I honestly prefer those times when the Spirit’s work, presence and ministry is super-evident. Sometimes that depends on the worship experience.  Sometimes it depends on who I fellowship with that day.  Sometimes it’s the ministry of the Word and the servant God is using to deliver His Word that makes God’s presence evident.

Most often it’s the state of my own soul that either helps me experience the Holy Spirit or keeps me from doing so.

So, this weekend as we have the following opportunities to become the temple of the living God together, do all you can to be that individual temple anointed by the Holy Spirit, filled with the Holy Spirit and sensitive to the Holy Spirit.  Come expecting an encounter with God different, but just as powerful, as that Pentecost long ago.

  • WOMEN: Saturday Morning Brunch from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Mosaic.  Come and experience the life of Christ as we together hear from God through each other about the direction of ministry to women at Mosaic.  (If you haven’t already signed up, please email and let us know you’ll be coming.  )
  • CHANGING LIVES: Saturday at 5:00 p.m. join Pastor Bob and our community as the Holy Spirit moves in the heart of our city.  If it’s been a while since you saw this move of God, this service might be your fresh encounter with God.
  • SUNDAY WORSHIP: At 8:30, 10:00 and 11:30 a.m. we’ll be hearing from two of our own missionary families (Andersons and Brumleys) and one of my best friends and most esteemed missionaries in the world, Neil and Carol Anderson.  Don’t miss this moving encounter with the Holy Spirit as we all step deeper into reaching this generation for Jesus Christ.

Anticipating His presence,

Pastor John
